FILA UK Grappling Trials

Huge congratulations to AFS Purple Belt Jamil Sorouji for his performance at the FILA UK Grappling Trials in Derby.

Jamil has been training at AFS for nearly 3 years, coming to us with no grappling or martial arts experience, and in that time his game has gone from strength to strength.

Jamil achieved victories over two of London Shootfighters top competitors, defeating UFC competitor James Zikic and Michael Johnson.

Having fought his way to the final Jamil met Braulio Estima Brown Belt Kevin Webb. Jamil unfortunately got caught in a triangle in the third minute and had to tap. Taking second place has led to Jamil's selection for the UK team to fight at the world championships in Switzerland in December.
